Frequently Asked Questions
Do I actually own the vine? No, you have ‘adopted’ the vine for a 3-year period.
Can I adopt more than one vine? Yes, you can adopt as many as you like. We have thousands of vines up for adoption.
How do I find my vine? We will give you a map of the vineyard. Each row is numbered. You just count the vines in the row to find yours. The vine will have your name engraved on a brass hang-tag.
Can I specify a red or white grapevine to adopt? Yes, it is on the order form. Just tick Red or White. The Red vine will be a Pinot Noir Vine and the White will be a Chardonnay Vine.
When can I visit my grapevine? Generally, during the opening hours of the winery and cellar door. However, close to vintage time there may be bird-netting covering the vines. You will need to be with vineyard management to visit your vine during that time (generally late February – May). This is an excellent time for photos as the grapes are ripe and rich. Please make a phone call to the winery so that we can ensure we are free to lift the nets so you can visit your vine.
What activities can I do with my vine? Many! You can visit your vine for a photo (perfect for Christmas cards, websites), talk to your vine (they are very good at listening) and watch your vine change through the four distinct seasons in the vineyard. At Gisborne Peak Winery you can pick the grapes from your vine at vintage time and you can prune your vine. The last two activities need coordination with vineyard staff. Get involved, you’ll learn a lot!
Can you send me a picture of my vine? Yes, a picture actually comes with your Adoption Kit and we are happy to send you other pictures any time you request.
How do I re-new my adoption? You will receive Adoption Renewal papers close to the expiration date.
How can I give My Vine as a gift? Yes, it is a perfect gift! You can email the details to info@myvine.com.au or order from www.wishlist.com.au, just type ‘My Vine’ into the search window. The recipient will receive a personalised Adoption Certificate suitable for framing, a Welcome letter, a picture of their vine, a My Vine newsletter at least twice a year, and discount offers on wine.
Can I receive a bottle of wine made with grapes from my vine? You can receive a bottle of wine made from grapes from the vineyard in which your vine resides. It is not possible to make wine from individual vines. Remember, that each year’s vintage is different from the last one. You will want a bottle or two from each vintage to track how your vine is maturing.
How long will it take to receive my Adoption Kit? Allow at least 10-days.
